Globe Telecom celebrates its network modernization launch by flying in Filipino-Swiss driver Marlon Stockinger of the Lotus F1 Junior Team to Globe Speed Day on August 30, 2014 at the Bonifacio Global City. The telecom company has also signed with the Lotus F1 team as its exclusive business partner in the country.
Globe is the telcommuniction partner and major supporter of Stockinger, who is currently competing in the World Series by Renault, flying the Philippine flag. The 23-year old driver made history last year by being the first Filipino to drive a Formula One car in the streets of Manila at the Manila Speedshow.
Globe Speed Day is touted as a celebration of speed highlighted by the partnership with Stockinger and the Lotus F1 Junior team. Stockinger will fly in to drive the Lotus-Gravity Charouz Formula Renault 3.5 race car around a street circuit set up around Bonifacio Global City to give Filipinos a feel of formula car racing. The event will also feature Lotus F1 simulators, souvernir booths, and special activities with partner establishments around the commercial and business hub.
"We are bringing together one of the world's fastest sports headlined by the one of the fastest-driving young drivers in the world, happening at the country's fastest-developing business hub powered by the nation's fastest and most modern network," said Globe Telecom Chief Operating Advisor Peter Bithos.
Globe is also taking the opportunity to hightlight its newly upgraded and modernized network, which has recently rolled-out 100-percent 3G coverage nationwide, including full 4G HSPA+ by the end of third quarter this year.
